How do I send money?

Say ‘Send money’ to Cleo in FB Messenger and follow her steps.

Can I send money to anyone?

You can send money to anybody with a UK bank account, including friends who haven't signed up to Cleo.

If your friend hasn't got a Cleo account, they'll have to enter a couple of details to adhere to KYC (Know Your customer) requirements, as well as their bank details so the transfer can be made. Entering this info doesn't sign your friend up to Cleo.

Where does that money come from?

Your payment will be made using the card you have linked to your Cleo wallet. 

If you haven't already set up your Cleo wallet, you will be asked to enter your card number,  sort code and account number. We need you to enter these details to allow us to move money (we only have read-only access otherwise).

Our payment provider, MangoPay, facilitates this transaction.

Who are MangoPay?

MangoPay is a payment platform and the partner we use to provide this service. They are EU Licensed and regulated.

How fast are payments?

Payments can take up to 48 hours to be processed and received. 

Do you charge any fees?

We do not charge any fees to use this service.

Are there limits on sending money?

You can send a maximum of £2,500 per transaction, and £5,000 in total transactions. There is no minimum amount to send.

Do you handle multiple currencies?

At the moment, you can only send money in GBP (£)

Can I use Cleo to pay at shops?

Not yet. If you have money in your Cleo wallet that you would like to spend, you'll need withdraw it into your bank account. Just say "withdraw £x" to Cleo in FB Messenger.
