Banking credentials are sensitive, and we treat this type of stuff really seriously.

Why does Cleo need my banking login information?

We need you to enter your login credentials so that you can establish a secure connection with your bank or credit card company. For this, we use a banking provider called SaltEdge that handles the connection to your financial institution.

Your Details Are Never Stored on Our Servers

All of your banking details are handled by SaltEdge, using the latest security technology to securely connect to nearly 3,000 financial institutions in 55 countries. Cleo and Salt Edge adhere to the highest security standards to ensure the safety of our customers' data at all times. With credential tokenisation and sophisticated encryption algorithms SaltEdge's Spectre API is compliant with PCI DSS requirements.

Once a secure connection is established, SaltEdge enables Cleo to analyse and categorise thousands of historic transactions as well as current balance information, securely and automatically.

Accessing in Read-Only Mode

Your transaction data is retrieved in read-only mode meaning that Cleo can only view your encrypted historical transaction data. At no time can Cleo access your accounts, and nobody can move money in or out of your account.

It's Between You & Cleo

Only you and Cleo can view your transactions. We never store your credentials on our servers and your transaction history is encrypted with all personally identifiable information removed upon receipt.

We:

  • Never store your banking login details
  • Never access your banking login details
  • We use bank-level 256-bit encryption to connect the service and our servers
